Rain Pushes NCAA Singles & Doubles Tournaments Back One Day
May 22, 2006 STANFORD, Calif. - Prevalent rain in the San Francisco Bay area over the past few days has caused the NCAA Committee to revise the schedule for the remainder of the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championships. The national singles tournament - which Notre Dame junior Catrina Thompson (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman H.S.) will take part in for the second consecutive year - will now begin one day later, on Wednesday at Stanford University's Taube Tennis Center, while she and twin sister Christian Thompson (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman H.S.) will commence action in the NCAA Doubles Championship on Thursday. Both events will proceed with one round per day (wrapping up with Monday's finals) and will run concurrently with the NCAA men's singles and doubles tournaments, which also have Notre Dame entrants. See below the revised schedule for the NCAA individual tournaments. Wednesday, May 24 10 a.m. - Men's & Women's First Round of Singles
