NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Kristy Frilling and Kali Krisik have been named 2010 ITA women's tennis All-Americans. Frilling returns to the list on both the singles and doubles teams, after making the doubles squad in '09, while Krisik earns her first All-America honor after being named to the doubles team.

Since becoming a Division I program in 1986, Notre Dame has had 14 players earn a total of 24 All-America honors. The All-America teams are selected by the ITA each year, with the governing body of collegiate tennis naming all players who meet at least one of three criteria in singles and doubles. In singles, an individual must 1) finish in the top 20 of the final ITA national rankings; 2) earn one of the 16 seeds in the NCAA Championship; or 3) advance to the round of 16 in the NCAA Championship. To earn All-America mention in doubles, a player must 1) finish in the top 10 of the final ITA national rankings; 2) earn one of the eight seeds in the NCAA Championship; or 3) advance to the quarterfinals in the NCAA Championship.

In singles, Frilling earned the honor after both entering the singles tournament as one of the top 16 seeds and finding herself ranked in the top 20 of the final ITA rankings. For the season, Frilling put together a 28-11 campaign, including 21-7 during the dual portion of the schedule while serving as the Irish No. 1 for the entire season. She posted a 17-10 mark against nationally ranked foes and earned the honor of BIG EAST women's tennis player of the year after posting a 5-1 record against conference foes and guiding her team to the 2010 BIG EAST Championship. Frilling reached the second round of the NCAA singles championships, knocking off Josipa Bek of Clemson (6-4, 4-6, 6-1) before falling to Kristi Boxx of Ole Miss (6-2, 6-4). She ended the season ranked 14th in the individual rankings.

Frilling also earned doubles All-America status along with her teammate Krisik after meeting each of the three requirements for the accolade. The tandem entered the tournament as the third overall seed and earned a berth in the quarterfinals before falling to the team of Nadja Gilchrist and Chelsey Gullickson of Georgia, 6-2, 6-1. The Irish duo rounded out the season with a 34-3 record, including posting a perfect slate on the dual season at 25-0 which all came at the No. 1 position. The team was 19-3 against nationally ranked opponents and concluded the year ranked second in the nation, which ties as the highest final season ranking - previously set by Frilling and Kelcy Tefft in '09 - in the program's history.
