Potts Competes At ITA National Summer Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Notre Dame senior Katie Potts advanced to the third round of the 2008 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Summer Championships held at Indiana University Aug. 11-15. Potts received a first-round bye before defeating Dayton's Kellaina Grote 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 in the second round. Michigan's Chisake Sugiyama ended Potts' run in the third round, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0. William & Mary's Ragini Acharya took home the singles title for the second-straight year. The Irish have claimed one women's title since the ITA National Summer Championships began in 1993, with Brook Buck and Kelcy Tefft taking the doubles crown in 2006. --ND--
