NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Notre Dame women's tennis team will end its tournament season this weekend at the ITA National Indoor Championships and the Western Michigan Invitational.

Sophomore Kristy Frilling will compete in the singles tournament at the National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, beginning Thursday at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center in New Haven, Conn.

The 20th-ranked Frilling will take on California's No. 26 Mari Andersson in the first round Thursday at 1:00 p.m.

A year ago, Frilling and partner Kelcy Tefft advanced to the doubles finals of the National Indoor tournament before falling to Fresno State's Renata Kucerkova and Anastasia Petukhova, 6-2, 2-6, 6-7, in the championship match.

This season, Frilling is 5-2 in singles action and was the runner-up at the Midwest Regional Championships last month.

The National Indoor Championships feature a 32-player singles field and 16-team doubles field for men and women, including: champions from Wilson/ITA Regional Championships held across the country during October, the ITA National Small College champions, the winners of the D'Novo/ITA Men's All-American Tennis Championships and Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships, and at-large and wild card selections made by the ITA National Tournament Committee.

Other members of the Irish squad will compete in the Western Michigan Invitational that kicks off Friday in Kalamazoo.

Complete results from both events will be available at www.und.com.
