The Notre Dame volleyball team (7-3) won its third match in two days by sweeping Samford (6-5) in three games (15-9, 15-8, 15-8) at the Lady Seminole Classic in Tallahassee, Fla., on Saturday. The Irish previously earned victories against Florida A&M and Florida State in the tournament on Friday.

Irish head coach Debbie Brown rested most of her regular rotation in the match against Samford, allowing Notre Dame to display its talented roster. Fourteen Irish players saw action in the match, including senior Adrienne Shimmel who notched career-highs in kills (six), attack attempts (16) and blocks (three) in the contest.

The Irish offense was led by junior Malinda Goralski (Missouri City, Texas) who completed a solid effort in the tournament with eight kills and two blocks after playing just two games. Freshman Kim Fletcher added a personal season-high seven kills while junior Kristy Kreher contributed six kills on just 12 attempts (.417 hitting).

The Irish return to action Thursday, Sept. 21, at 7:00 p.m., as they play host to #21 Loyola Marymount. The 2000 Golden Dome Invitational will begin the next day, Sept. 22, as #7 Colorado State, Wyoming, Loyola Marymount and the Irish take the court for a two-day tournament.
