NOTRE DAME, Ind. - This is the fifth of five "Bump, Set, Spike" installments on UND.com to help Notre Dame fans get to know each of the newcomers to the Irish program this season. Freshman Hilary Eppink is one of two Indiana natives on the Notre Dame roster this season (joining fellow Indianapolis-area product Kim Kristoff).

Why was Notre Dame a good fit for you to continue your education and athletic career?
Everything. It is the perfect balance of athletics and academics. Campus is really pretty, not too big, and everything just felt right about it.

What's your favorite spot on campus?
    The Grotto.

When did you decide to attend Notre Dame?
Right after I visited, which was around Halloween of my junior year of high school. Once I left I decided that it was the right school for me.

Where does your competitive drive come from?
It's simple: I have to win. Both of my parents are hard workers, especially my dad.

If you could play a game of horse with anyone, who would it be?
    Reggie Miller.

    Who would win?
    Me, for sure.

What's the difference between playing at Notre Dame than playing in high school?
The drills are more in-depth and the speed of the game is much faster. High school was a lot slower, simpler and it's not nearly as long.

What was going through your mind when you left home for Notre Dame?
I was really nervous and scared because I didn't know what to expect. But I was very excited and anxious. There were so many emotions going through my mind, but the excitement and anticipation got me pumped up.

If you could play one song on repeat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
My serving song: "I will Never Let You Go" by Third Eye Blind.

How many times have you seen the movie "Rudy"?
Only twice. It came on t.v. soon after I moved into my dorm, and that was the first time I had watched it all the way through.
