NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Colorado, the 12th-ranked team in the nation, won the Shamrock Invitational title by beating 16th-ranked Notre Dame 15-6, 15-13 and 15-6 at the Joyce Center Arena.

Colorado (2-0) was led by tournament MVP Sarah Lodge (Houston, Texas) who tied a school record in a three-game match with 24 kills on 53 attempts. Fellow all-tournament team member, Notre Dame's Jo Jameyson (Alvin, Texas), led the Irish with 16 kills and a team-leading .433 hitting percentage. Jameyson, a sophomore, set career bests in kills, attack attempts (30), hitting percentage and solo blocks (2). Notre Dame's Lindsay Treadwell (Austin, Texas), who also made the all-tournament team, tied a career best in a three-game match with 14 kills and added 10 digs in the loss.

The first game Colorado jumped out to an early 6-0 lead. After a time out, the Irish scored their first three points of the game behind the serve of junior Mandi Powell (Monrovia, Ind.). The Irish eventually got within two at 7-5, but were only able to score one more point in the game after a bad Colorado pass. The Buffaloes wrapped up the game after three-straight Irish hitting errors at 15-6.

Notre Dame, however, took the early 3-0 lead in game two. Colorado bounced back to eventually tie the game at six all. After two more ties at 10, 12 and 13 points, the Buffaloes took the lead at 14-13 on an ace, followed by another point for a 15-13 victory.

Building on their momentum, Colorado went repeatedly to Lodge in game three, turning out a 15-6 victory for a three-game win.

Also making the all-tournament team were Notre Dame's Denise Boylan (Lisle, Ill. - 88 assists in two matches), Colorado's Kelly Campbell (Corona Del Mar, Calif - 99 assists) and Kristin Dorsch (Cypress, Texas - 18 kills) and Georgia's Kathy Vis (Holland, Mich. - 30 kills).

The Irish, now 2-1 overall, travel to Wisconsin next weekend for the Wisconsin Inntowner Invitational, September 11-12 in Madison, Wisc. Notre Dame will play host Wisconsin on Friday night in a rematch of last year's NCAA Central Regional game which the Badgers won 3-1. On Saturday, the Irish will play Indiana at 5 p.m.
