NOTRE DAME, Ind. - After helping the Notre Dame volleyball team to victories over Connecticut and St. John's this past weekend, sophomore right side hitter Jeni Houser has earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second time this season, the league office announced on Monday.
Houser, who was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll to open the 2012 season, helped the Irish sweep UConn (3-0) and roll past St. John's (3-1) as she tallied 24 kills and 12 blocks while hitting .537 for the two matches.
Against the Huskies, the Louisville, Ky., native had eight kills and five blocks and hit .538, while on Sunday in the win over the Red Storm she pounded out 16 kills and had a career-high seven blocks while hitting .536.
For the season Houser leads the in attack percentage (.336) and is second on the team in kills (239), kills per set (3.41), blocks (57) and blocks per set (0.81).
Houser and the rest of her Irish teammates hit the road on Friday to meet DePaul in Chicago in an 8 p.m. (ET) matchup. Notre Dame enters the contest with a 12-6 record and is tied for second in the BIG EAST with a 5-1 record.
