SCOUTING THE IRISH

Notre Dame has a record of 19-8 on the season and 10-5 in the ACC. The Irish have already won 12 more matches than during the 2015 campaign and have recorded the most ACC wins in program history. Notre Dame is coming off of a tough four-set loss at Louisville in a midweek matchup on Wednesday. The Irish are the top serving team in the conference, as the squad averages 1.80 aces per set. Individually freshman Jemma Yeadon leads the attack, averaging a team-high 2.80 kills per set.

SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS

Virginia enters Sunday’s match with a record of 6-21 on the season and 3-12 in ACC play. However, the Cavaliers are coming off a straight-set victory over Louisville from Friday evening. The other two ACC wins have come over Clemson.  Virginia is led by Haley Kole, as the senior averages 3.36 kills per set. The defense is anchored by Chino Anukwuem, who is averaging 1.15 blocks per frame.

SERIES HISTORY VS. VIRGINIA

The Irish and Cavaliers will meet for the first time this season on Sunday. Virginia leads Notre Dame in the all-time series with a record of 4-1. The Irish have dropped the last four matchups against the Cavaliers, as the only win came in the first meeting in 1986.

MOST ACC WINS IN PROGRAM HISTORY

The Irish are in the midst of their breakout season in the ACC. The team is currently 10-5 in the league, its best start since joining the conference in 2013. Notre Dame’s 10 victories are already the most the program has recorded in a single season in the ACC.

NUNGE’S NIGHT

Rebecca Nunge recorded a triple-double on Wednesday at Louisville, becoming the first Irish player to accomplish the feat since Maggie Brindock did so at Rutgers in 2012. The Newburgh, Indiana native finished with 10 kills, 15 assists and 11 digs over the four sets. Nunge tied her career-high in digs with 11 and her 10 kills marked the seventh time she has finished in double figures this season. The sophomore is one of 30 players in the country to record a triple-double this season, including the only player in the ACC.
