Well, the best part of the season is here, the Big East portion of our schedule. We start the season with a game at Syracuse on Jan. 2.

It is great to play teams like Vermont and Long Island at home but it is great when we get to play Syracuse and UConn. This is the time when you get to prove yourself worthy enough for the NCAA tournament.

We will face a tough opener at Syracuse. We have never really played well at the Carrier Dome. Last year, the game started out close but then Preston Shumpert drilled off a bunch of threes. This year, will have to make sure and contain him.

The other key is to make sure that we keep Syracuse off the boards. Overall, Syracuse is a tough team to play against, especially in the Carrier Dome.

A win over Syracuse would mean a lot to us. It is hard to get a win on the road in the Big East and especially against a ranked team, like Syracuse, but it would mean a lot to the team and set us off on the right foot.
