Irish Compete In Gary Wieneke Memorial

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Notre Dame Fighting Irish traveled west as they competed in the Gary Wieneke Memorial hosted by Illinois on Saturday, April 13.

The Irish tabbed 14 top-5 finishes, with seven athletes recording personal bests in their events. 

Notre Dame had several top-10 ACC performances. Michael Shoaf’s throw of 19.63m in shot put was a season best that now leads the ACC and is ranked eighth in the NCAA. 

Cole Targgart recorded a PR in discus and is sixth in the conference. Blake Kusky finished with a PR in hammer throw and ranks sixth in the ACC, as well. 

Another PR set was by Sarah David, who sits at seventh in the ACC in javelin. 

Jack Ahart’s PR time of 47.34 gave him a second place finish in the men’s 400m and puts him at eighth in the conference. 

Madison Schmidt and Nolan Blachowski also cracked the top-10 list as they sit at tenth in high jump and pole vault, respectively.
